PDF tool
Shrink a PDF without wrecking the text
Convertol PDF re-renders pages to bring the file size down. At the recommended level text stays crisp; the aggressive level goes smaller but softens images. Built for scans that won't fit in an email.
- No sign-up
- No watermark
- Deleted after 15 min
How does it work?
Three steps, all in the browser.
- STEP 01
Upload the heavy PDF
Drop the file you want to compress. Up to 200 MB is accepted.
- STEP 02
Pick a level
Recommended is the right balance for most documents. Try aggressive for scanned receipts where text fidelity doesn't matter.
- STEP 03
Compare the result
Old and new size are shown side by side; try another level if you're not happy.
Frequently asked questions
How much smaller will it get?
Scanned documents typically drop 60-90%. Text-only PDFs that are already optimised gain little.
Does the text stay selectable?
Yes, if the PDF has a text layer. Scanned images have none — run OCR to make them searchable.
Why didn't my file shrink?
It is probably already compressed. If the weight comes mostly from embedded fonts, compression helps little.
Can compression be undone?
No, it is lossy. Keep the original; the output is a new file.
